In accepting the designation, the World Capital country is expected to develop and implement a year-long program of scientific, social, cultural, and economic activities to attract the interest of a broad international public, and that are consistent with the goals of the Capital Initiative, namely:
Equity, Diversity and Inclusion in all fields related to Science, Technology and Innovation
Greater Investment in Science and green technology- based solutions for global challenges
Nurturing the contribution of women in the sciences to the long-term socio-economic development strategies of countries, in accordance with their respective strategies and priorities
Increasing the capacity building, partnership and collaboration in science and its relevant fields
Highlighting the richness and diversity of the culture of Science, Technology, and Innovation for peace, prosperity, and development, highlighting the common features that countries share, and increasing societies' sense of the role of the sciences in inclusive green socio-economic development and
Celebrating the achievements of Women in Science and recognizing their role in global development.
These goals are fully in line with the aims of the UN 2030 Sustainable Development Agenda and the Outcome Documents of the 3rd, 4th, 5th, 7th, 8th, and 9th International Day of Women and Girls in Science.
The achievement of these goals will solidify communities by encouraging the identification of common interests, stimulating inter-scientific dialogue, sharing best practices, increasing collaboration and mutual understanding, and transferring knowledge and technology.
