Throughout the years, RASIT has played a vital role in equipping the international community and organizations with the skills and knowledge needed to tackle global challenges, and has been working earnestly and diligently to accomplish equality in science, to strengthen the role that women can play in socio-economic sustainable development, and to promote women experts as equal partners and agents for change.
RASIT is internationally recognized as the pioneering non-governmental body to introduce and facilitate a United Nations General Assembly Resolution A/RES/70/212, proclaiming February 11 as the International Day of Women and Girls in Science.
Following the adoption of the Resolution A/RES/70/212 on 22nd December 2015, RASIT continues to work with UN Member States, Inter-Governmental Organizations and the United Nations and its entities, to contribute towards the achievement of equality in science, technology, and innovation for socio-economic sustainable development in line with Agenda 2030 and the SDGs.
The acclaim garnered by RASIT's endeavors is underscored by the historical achievements of February 11 being the ONLY INTERNATIONAL DAY on the UN calendar addressed by Heads of State and Governments and Dignitaries, the highest number of co-organizers and co-sponsors Member States, UN Departments and Entities, and IGOs, and more significantly with outcome documents and declarations endorsed by UN member States and Inter-Governmental Organizations. Furthermore, the February 11 annual Assembly is the first to be moderated by Girls in Science and includes the voices of the blind and deaf women in science.
RASIT has been working for more than 55 years to promote the need for science-based and green technology-based solutions to address the world’s growing challenges. All of our programs have been successfully implemented by mobilizing concerted efforts to advance human rights, specifically the right to equal and inclusive access to education, science, and employment.
From Science and Society and Science Diplomacy to the World Capital of Women and Girls in Science and other initiatives, RASIT initiatives aim to bring forward science experts and professionals for a multilateral system that is equitable, inclusive, networked, and effective by resetting the foundations and reaffirming the core values of equality that underpin collective action.
